Displaced Ukrainian Artists: The Impact of War on Artistic Practice
Moderated by Ukrainian artist Olena Kayinska, this panel discussion with displaced Ukrainian artists, who have lost their homes due to the war in Ukraine, migrated, and continue their art practice. In this discussion, we will explore how the loss of their homes has influenced their artistic practice.
The panel will feature several Ukrainian artists, who will share their personal experiences of displacement and how this has impacted their art practice. They will discuss the challenges they have faced as a result of displacement, including the difficulty of finding a new place to live and work, as well as the emotional toll of leaving behind their homes and communities.
The artists will also share how their art practice has been influenced by their experiences of displacement. They will discuss how their work has evolved in response to their new environment, as well as how it has been influenced by their memories and experiences of their former homes. They will also talk about how their work reflects their feelings of loss, longing, and hope, as well as the resilience and strength of the human spirit.
Through this panel discussion, we hope to shed light on the experiences of displaced Ukrainian artists and their unique perspectives on the impact of war on artistic practice. We also hope to encourage greater awareness and understanding of the human cost of conflict and displacement, as well as the role of art in healing and resilience.

Unsettled Workshop - El Encuentro Collective
Unsettled Workshop is an artist talk with El Encuentro Collective members Andrea Ferran, Simone Tetrault, and Alessandro Businaro. In this digital workshop, the artist panel will present their research and process for Unsettled, a participatory theatre project that explores lived experiences of migration, precarity and social instability that will culminate in a live performance presentation in Lanzarote in autumn of 2023.
Unsettled explores narratives of liminality and transience through theatre and performance. The project examines experiences of uprooting to settle somewhere new and associated feelings of being unsettled by unfamiliar people, places, customs and traditions. It asks how acts of leaving, of arriving, or of waiting somewhere in between can impact individuals and communities. It looks at how families and communities are shaped by financial and social unpredictability and inconsistency. It gives voice to migrant and marginalised communities in Europe through the co-creation of new performance work with professional directors, actors and musicians.

Transgenerational Metamorphosis - Daniella Scimonelli
I would like to perform a shamanic ritual that can help pacify our morphic field and free ourselves from the painful memories of our ancestors. The morphic field, also known as the Field of Memories or Akashic Records, is a concept in the theory of morphogenesis that refers to the energy field that surrounds every living being and contains information about its development and evolution. In this morphic field, memories or records of the pain or suffering experienced or caused by our ancestors also remain.
Although these memories were experienced by those who came before us, they can still influence our present life and well-being. In fact, if we are tuned into these memories, we can also suffer, and this can manifest in various ways, such as anxiety, depression, guilt, health problems, and much more. For this reason, it is important to work on reconciling the morphic field and harmonizing energies. Through a shamanic ritual, we can undergo a transgenerational metamorphosis and free ourselves from the chains of the past.
We will perform this ritual within a Shamanic Yoga class. Shamanic Yoga is practiced in a state of ecstasy, which is achieved through breathing and is called the imaginary forest. We will invoke our ancestors and reconcile our field. I will also have my drum. In this way, we will undergo a transgenerational metamorphosis, freeing ourselves from the negative memories of the past and opening the way to a more peaceful, healthy, and happy life.

Kaspar or vibrations of a body that has never danced - Baejjahn Dance Company
It is the story of a (semi-) wild child kidnapped shortly after birth and locked in a cell for political reasons. He will thus grow up outside civilization. Despite his imprisonment, he manages to build an identity in accordance with nature and the universe. One day, however, he is brutally thrown into society. A second shock to him, disrupting his existential paradigm. What will he gain ? What begins ? What ends ? This dance performance is about the origins of language, and the relationship between language and the process of humanization.

· What does disability mean to you?
· What does accessibility mean to you?
· Do you find the descriptor ‘disabled artist’ empowering/helpful or not? Why?
· Has your lived experience of disability affected your art? How?
· When has the capitalist concept of ‘powering through’ affected you?
· Who is in the room and who is missing from the conversation?

Electric Awakening is a virtual and experimental, ensemble-driven physical performance inciting collective liberation. Through primal choreographed movement, live sound and a unique sequence of participatory rituals, we aim to disentangle our collective psyches from the death grip of internal and external oppression.
As the world struggles with increasing injustice and crises, Electric Awakening responds directly to the immediate social conditions of the here and now, where both audience and performers create instant community in search of new connections and ontologies.

Dance Therapy Workshop - Michela Montrasio
Our body is our home. A dance teacher of mine used to say that we rent our bodies. What is certain is that our whole history, our traumas, our emotions are sedimented in our body, everything is embodied in the tissues. When we put our body in motion and, in particular when we discover and experiment with different ways of moving, breaking the mold, we put all the levels of our being in motion and we enter the terrain of the unknown which opens up to transformation, to metamorphosis as form and content are one, they are closely related.
This is an experiential movement workshop rooted in the therapeutic qualities of dance.

Initiation - Michela Montrasio
Initiation is the latest and new work by Michela Montrasio. A video-performance to propitiate and celebrate the encounter with the Divine Feminine, our soul. A ritual to favor a metamorphosis and the evolutionary process of being, drawing on ancestral gestures and elements full of sacredness.
The performance is configured as a real initiation ritual to be reborn to oneself through reunification with one's Soul, with one's divine part. The performance is related to the theme of metamorphosis to be understood in a spiritual and alchemical sense. It is a sort of sacred marriage between the human and the divine, an elevation to a next step which passes in particular by integrating the Sacred Feminine.
The performance consists of live action and a video projection.

Living Statue 'The Metamorphosis' - Hakime Bal
This is an interactive living statue performance expressing the metamorphosis of human beings;
“…at what point did the silkworm die after having shut itself up in the cocoon and bolted the door, how was it possible for the life of one to have been born out of the death of the other, the life of the moth out of the death of the worm, and for them to be the same but different, or did the silkworm not die because the moth still lives. …”
“…the silkworm didn’t die, there was no corpse inside the cocoon when the moth had left, but, as you said, one was born out of the death of the other, It’s called metamorphosis, everyone knows that, said the apprentice philosopher condescendingly, That’s a very fine-sounding word, full of promises, and certainties, you say metamorphosis and move on, it seems you don't understand that words are the labels we stick on things, not the things, themselves …” Jose Saramago (Death with interruptions)
As Saramago says in his book, we are not the person we used to be yesterday. And on this point, we want to show people that transformation can help us to reach a better version of ourselves. We are waking up being a different kind of moth after the pandemic. Having old selves dying to then live through a better version of us day by day.
